COULD THIS BE THE 1994 CAPRI?
Futuristic Ford by Ghia at Geneva Show
Highlight of the 1974 Geneva International Motor Show is this ideas car from Ford’s Ghia Operations, showing how the Capri theme for sporty economical motoring might develop by 1994. Called "Coins", this Ghia styling study shares the Capri II's large functional rear door, accent on safety and low operating costs, and flexibility to adapt the passenger seats to extra luggage space.
But otherwise the futuristic "Coins" is far removed from the reality of the new Capri II. It has only three seats, with the driver in the middle, only one door at the rear and complex glass areas which alone would cost almost as much to manufacture as the present complete Capri.’
"It cannot go into production, ” said a Ford spokesman "but the Coins car is a useful exercise to try out a number of advanced ideas and assess public reaction to them. ”
