Though its compact body measures just 3,695 mm in overall length, the mm seats four adults comfortably, providing the interior comfort of a larger car along with an abundance of well-conceived storage places. Its highly refined exterior design combines chic stylishness with superb driving ease.

Advanced exterior design

The exterior styling conveys a totally new image in a simple yet attractive design. With an overall rounded form as its design motif and strong character lines flowing from the front to the rear, the mm has a pleasing balance of roundness and sharpness, giving it a fresh appearance. In addition, the 15" tires are positioned at the four corners of the compact body to convey a sense of solid stability.

The hood design incorporates a globe-like roundness that imparts a feeling of size, in spite of its short length. The distinctly shaped headlamps, aluminum wheels and numerous other design cues evoke a playful spirit.

Markers provided on the headlamps house the low-beam bulbs and also improve the driver's perception of the front-end. A clever approach has been taken for the turn signal lamps by integrating them with the grille as part of its motif.

Spacious, high quality interior design

Within its compact body the mm provides interior roominess comparable to that of a medium-class sedan, enabling four adults to travel in spacious comfort. This spaciousness is secured by its long wheelbase of 2,430 mm, overall height of 1,525 mm, an overall width of 1,660 mm and an overall length of 3,695mm.

The instrument panel rounds outward at the center toward the front seats to convey an expansive impression, and the fabric-like nature of its material imparts a feeling of warmth and fine quality. The interior color scheme has been meticulously coordinated, even down to the fine details of the control systems, including the steering wheel and control switches. These efforts have produced an interior of exceptionally high quality that has never been seen before in a compact car.

The mm provides excellent visibility as a result of keeping the waistline low and optimizing the positions of the pillars. Because it is especially easy to see out the rearward corners of the car, putting it safely in the garage is simple to do. In addition, a tilt steering column and a ratchet-type driver's seat lifter allows the optimum driving position. Large 15" tires are adopted and the mm also achieves a minimum turning radius for outstanding maneuverability. Its short overhangs, headlamp markers and other features make the mm an ideal compact car that any driver can easily operated with confidence.

Numerous handy storage places

The glove box has a large 11-liter storage capacity. Besides fully accommodating a cosmetics pouch or a tissue box, it has a built-in sliding tray that neatly holds a vehicle inspection certificate and A4-size maps. Two foldaway cup holders for the front seats also function as a secret tray for hiding small valuables. The center console has a handy bin for storing a cellular phone or other items and also incorporates two cup holders for the rear-seat passengers.

Smart, convenient entry system

A vehicle-mounted sensor detects the user's portable control unit, enabling the doors to be locked or unlocked by simply pushing the corresponding button on the outside door handle. There is no need to take out and insert a key or to press a button on a remote keyless entry fob. The system controls not only the driver's side door, but also the passenger's side and back doors. In addition, when the portable control unit is inside the car, the engine can be started by just turning the main switch on the instrument panel, making it unnecessary to insert the key in the ignition switch.

Newly developed engine and platform

The mm is powered by a newly developed, small 4-cylinder inline engine. This lightweight, compact engine combines clean emissions friendly to the environment with high power output for pleasurable driving. The adoption of a super-silent timing chain also achieves remarkable quietness.

Another notable feature is the mm's newly designed platform that keeps the mechanical package to a minimum for a superb balance of handling, stability, quietness and safety.

The newly developed front suspension incorporates a dual anti-vibration subframe, and a torsion beam suspension is used at the rear. This suspension system lets drivers enjoy exceptionally high levels of ride comfort and quietness never before achieved in a compact car.

Outstanding safety performance

Safety equipment has been improved for enhanced safety performance, including first-in-class implementation of curtain airbag SRS and side airbag SRS, as well as the adoption of xenon headlamps and other safety features. Superior braking performance is assured through the use of large-capacity brakes, Braking Assist, an antilock braking system (ABS) and an electronic braking force distribution (EBD) system.

Intelligent 4WD system: E･4WD

The mm adopts Nissan's newly developed E･4WD system that is compact and lightweight and provides 4WD capability only when it is needed. With the E･4WD system, the 4WD control unit sends a command signal to activate a generator when the front wheels slip. The electric power produced by the generator drives a motor installed at the rear of the vehicle. The resulting motor power is transferred through a clutch to the rear wheels. Using the mm as a 2WD vehicle in ordinary driving results in even more economical performance.
