Mazda reveals high-performance 323 MPS at Birmingham Motor Show
Mazda is unveiling a high-performance concept version of its 323 saloon model at the Birmingham Motor Show.
The 323 MPS has been designed to deliver a distinctive, stylish image matched to significant performance. "MPS" stands for Mazda Performance Series.
Modifications to the standard Mazda 323 include an increase in power to 150 horsepower from the 2.0-litre engine, achieved through careful tuning of the unit. The 323 MPS also has special suspension and low-profile tyres (205/45R17).
The distinctive appearance has been created by the use of aerodynamic body components and sporting interior fittings.
Mazda created the special concept model as the first in a series of derivative models to offer significant performance enhancements over the existing mass-produced versions. The 323 MPS, which will be used to measure customer reaction and attitudes, has been designed to provide an exciting driving experience combined with a sporting, youthful appearance.
The design of the 323 MPS also reflects Mazda's brand personality, which is defined as "stylish", "spirited" and "insightful".
Mazda developed the 323 MPS in alliance with highly-acclaimed North American car-tuning experts, Racing Beat.
