The Motorette was built in the Cheney Silk Mill in Hartford, Connecticut, and had a 7hp air-cooled 2-cylinder 2-stroke engine, with final drive by chain to the rear wheel. The Motorette was sold in several overseas countries, such as Canada, Denmark and Japan.
In 1911 a batch of faulty engines was delivered, so the engine was changed for a 4-stroke design, but the damage to the Motorette's reputation was done. A cross-country run was done to generate positive publicity, but production ended in 1914 after approximately 200 Motorettes had been built.
