The SVJ 1000 GT Coupe, produced by S.V. Jensen Bil A/B in Copenhagen between 1965 and 1967, was a bold attempt to fill the gap for a true Danish-built sports car. Built on the platform of the Auto Union 1000 S, this spacious four-seater featured an elegant three-box coupe design reminiscent of Alfa Romeo styling.
Initially equipped with the Auto Union engine, the SVJ later received a rotary NSU Ro80 motor, enhancing its performance potential. The car was crafted with a lightweight fiberglass body, showcasing contemporary design elements that turned heads.
Despite its promising specifications and attractive aesthetics, the SVJ 1000 GT faced financial challenges that prevented mass production. Ultimately, only one example of this unique coupe was ever built, making it a rare gem in automotive history and a symbol of ambition in Danish engineering.
